It doesn’t matter if you are a traditional bride or if your style is more alternative wedding dresses. Choosing a dress for your wedding is a big decision. Your wedding is an important moment in your life that you’ll remember for the rest.
We asked Phillipa Lepley to explain what types of dresses will be popular this season, as wedding planning is already underway for 2023 and 2020. Lepley, a bridal couturier in London with over 30 years of experience, knows what she is talking about.
Lepley shares his insights into the three wedding dress trends that we can expect this season.
1. COLOURFUL DRESSES
Lepley says, “We’re seeing more brides choosing colourful dresses.” This doesn’t mean that we will see brides in bright, saturated colors walking down the aisle. Lepley clarifies that brides are choosing “soft, elegant shades of rose pink with coloured floral embroidery on soft tulle overlays.” The key is to use color subtly.
2. The Classics are back!
This year, it seems that brides are going to be more traditional. Lepley says that “there will be a revival of a classic look.” Think of full skirts, cathedral-length veils, and clean satin dresses.
Lepley also predicts that brides are going to gravitate towards styles that can be altered. She said that there would be more top layers, and sleeves could be removed. After the ceremony, these items can be removed or added to create a completely new look.
3. THE RISE of Personalization
Lepley states that “Personalised items are increasingly popular.” Monogrammed initials, hidden sewn-in dates, and even paw prints are all popular. People want to tell their stories through their dresses.
Lepley says that more brides are opting for multiple dresses to enhance the personal element of their wedding.
