How did you hear about Luella’s when you were engaged?
I walked past the shop when we were looking for houses in Wimbledon. Once I opened the door to your lovely shop and browsed around, I knew that I would be coming back and buying something for my wedding. I also tried some jewellery at the designer wedding show in Battersea park shortly afterwards and kept a card with the jewellery details that I liked most. After researching where I can buy the jewellery, Luella’s Boudoir popped up as an option and I remembered the name straight away and went
What items did you get for your big day from Luella’s Boudoir?
I bought my jewellery and a wrap. The wrap was the Marylin wrap from the Sophie Benoit collection. I wore the wrap with a white Karen Millen dress for the registry office. I also bought Victoria Fergusson jewellery. Bella earrings, Twinkle bracelet, Summer comb and the Ritz neclace with a specially altered pendant that matched the Bella earrings. I also had the Bella earrings slightly altered as I prefer studs to hangers. It wasn’t a problem at all and all looked absolutely fantastic on the day. I got exactly what I wanted!

What did you enjoy about your Luella’s Boudoir experience?
I enjoyed most the close and very personal contact to Shelley, your lovely shop assistant. I find it quite hard nowadays to get a personal shopping experience. It is so important to talk to the same person again and again, someone who takes you through the sales situation form the beginning to the end. You just want to talk to someone you have talked to before, someone who knows everything about your needs and changes etc. It really helped to always contact the same person as I didn’t have to update Shelley at all. She knew exactly what I was talking about every single time we spoke, e-mailed or were on the phone. It was perfect!Any bits of advice for brides-to-be, or things you would do differently for your wedding?
Two things for the big day. Have someone to carry a bottle of water for you and pass it to you straight after the church or your ceremony. We were soooo thirsty and it took forever until we got to drink something as you normally have some photos taken directly after the church etc. Second tip; have your bridesmaid checking your makeup and hair etc. on the day and drag you into the restroom to adjust and touch up. I didn’t do that and was a bit sad that my lipstick had worn off so quickly and some of my curled locks had uncurled. Little things that I only just discovered on the photos afterwards. You just don’t think about it on the day, so have someone think about it for you!
What was your favourite part of your big day?
Definitely tucking into my yummy weeding cake after a long time of dieting!!! Also, walking down the aisle, which I was so scared of but it turned out to be one of my single most favourite moments. Everyone just smiled at me and my dad was so proud to walk me down the aisle and my lovely hubby stood at the front with a big smile and those cute and teary eyes. It was amazing and just the thought of it still gives me goose bumps.

What do you love about being married?
I love the feeling of that very special bond between you and your husband. It seems like you can achieve anything together. No matter how bad a day might have been, you just know that you are not alone and that there is always someone who will listen to you and make it better. Love is so much stronger than anything else in the world and it is a great thing when two people meet that have this strong feeling for each other.
Please could we ask for any other quirky bits of info, tips, advice, memories, anything you would like to add?
The end of our big day was quite special and bizarre. We had an apartment just a few minutes across the road from the venue but as I had stayed in a different place the night before the wedding, my suitcase was with me at the venue. At the end of our long long day (we finished at 6.30am) my hubby and I totally exhausted walked back to the apartment together, hand in hand, me dragging my suitcase behind me and him holding my hand in one and a glass of beer in the other hand. People were driving past us and honking like mad and shouting Congratulations at us. We burst out laughing as we could tell that most of them must have thought that we are on our way to getting married instead of walking back totally exhausted and slightly drunk after an amazing day of celebrating the start of life together as Mr & Mrs Small.
