Luella’s takes to the outdoors for our latest photoshoot 11 October 2010
On the 4th October 2010 we organised a photoshoot to capture some of our beautiful products outdoors. The shoot was photographed by exciting new South African photographer Samantha Kelly Raath and styled by our favourite fashion and beauty stylist’s Kate Anya Barbour and Kaz Fernando.
The Photographer

Sam has a passion for outdoor scenery, so we chose to hold the shoot at the local Wimbledon Common, where it would be possible to showcase the wedding dresses in rich natural surroundings. The location for each shot was then decided according to the style of each dress and the mood that we were trying to create.
“The beauty of Wimbledon Common in Autumn gave a natural backdrop for the shoot, enhancing the elegance and radiance of the dresses. The fact that some of the leaves were turning red, yellow and orange added a richness to some of the shots whereas in some parts of the park it was still green and fresh which enabled me to create a lighter more summery feel which worked better for some of the more relaxed style of dresses. I thought the best way to bring out the style of the Men’s suit was to have the model stand next to a very big, old tree to add boldness and enrich the colour.”

The Styling by Kate Anya Barbour

The style of dresses in this particular collection is quite varied so we had to think carefully about the styling of each shot. Stylist Kate Anya Barbour pulled together a selection of props that worked well with the location but that still reflected the Luella’s Boudoir style.

“I wanted to create the Luella’s Boudoir feel outdoors so we used a selection of cute accessories to add femininity and freshness to the Autumnal setting where the shoot took place. With peonies as a signature part of the Luella’s brand, I chose sweet floral corsages to adorn the model’s hair in keeping with a floral theme, which is very Luellasy.”
The Hair & Makeup by Kaz Fernando

The hair & makeup styling was also carefully designed to work well with the variety of different looks that we were trying to create for each dress.
“The Luella’s look is always quite fresh and natural, and the hair and makeup needed to reflect this. I chose a lightly touseled down style which could be easily altered as the shoot progressed to incorporate the beautiful range of Luella’s Hair accessories, chosen for the shoot. The hair and make-up styling was also carefully designed to work well with a variety of looks that we were trying to create for each dress. We kept it soft and pretty to enhance her natural features, using just enough of everything to make her glow.”
We also took a few shots of our gorgeous male model to introduce our new mens’ tailoring service which is being launched in the next few weeks.
