Thought you might want some ideas as you plan your winter wedding and I have some to share with you. The beauty of a winter wedding when deciding colors is as simple as going back to the basic winter ivories, greens and white. Choose a soft subtle accent of sage, blush or winter blue for a really lovely look.You might opt for wonderful contrasts of white and black, a bright but deep red with gold or silver if those colors suit your personalities better. A caution, when using reds and greens is, if you overdo them you suddenly are having a holiday party and not the wedding you are having. Invitations
Most winter weddings are indoors and this makes it a grand time to have a little more formal day so your invitations should reflect that by sending a more formal invitation. The cardstock a heavy white with the font a deep color from your theme colors is a way to convey a more formal invite. White calla lilies are beautiful when used for your winter wedding flower
Flowers
The choices of flowers is quite wonderful at this time of year. While red roses are lovely the cost is often prohibitive with Valentine’s Day a big red rose day. Opt for calla lilies, white hydrangeas, amaryllis, ranunculus, sweet peas, tulips and forget-me-nots to give you just an idea of the variety you have to choose from.
Escort Cards
I rather like the idea of setting up a little tree and attaching the each escort card to a small ornament and asking each guest look for their table by finding their ornament. It does not have to be at Christmas or a Christmas-theme for this and they have a remembrance of your wedding each year when they hang it on their tree. Your guests will love a cup of warm apple cider on a winter wedding day
Cocktail Hour
Warm and comforting is what you think of when serving winter wedding drinks. For non alcoholic drinks there is warm apple cider, how about white hot choclate in an expresso cup? For alcoholic drinks try hot mulled wine in shot glasses and egg nog in small punch glasses. Of course, you may have your favorite beverage you wish to serve, too and always offer water either sparkling or otherwise.
Music, Music, Music
At your more formal wedding day a classical pianist or a string ensemble playing softly during dinner adds a really wonderful feeling to the time. Wedding Favors
In the spirit of the winter season give little favor boxes of chocolate covered sugar cranberries, mini brownies or even some tasty roasted chestnuts for something different and a great winter treat.Another idea is to send your guests home at the end of the evening with hot chocolate and a little treat to go with it as a favorite cookie or mini cream puff or eclair.
The Wedding Cake
Have fun with your wedding cake as it is a major attraction at your reception and you want it a show-stopper and taste great too. Find a good baker who can do magic with fondant by way of frosting the cake and decorations. A traditional vintage white cake perhaps dusted with silver or gold edible powder. Accent it with pretty crystal drops, a ribbon made of sugar in your theme colors and top it with fresh flowers or whatever you two choose to top your cake with.
